This weekend I celebrated the historical 57th Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC. I know there are only 44 Presidents, but it was the 57th inauguration nonetheless, I will research why that is later. The point is, I was in DC, and I was lucky enough to score VIP tickets to the Chef’s Ball, hosted by Art Smith of Table Fifty-Two (Chicago) and Art and Soul (DC), and several other restaurants, that I need to add to my restaurant bucket list. Among the bites was my favorite of them all Art Smith’s Fried Chicken and Waffles.

While taking in the sites of DC, and the tastes as well, I thought about capturing the food of the city in some way. So when I got close to my computer I decided to look for cook books that represent the city I’m visiting. I plan to begin a nice collection of these books, and use this as decor for my house. More importantly, I will be using these books to try the recipes that I would like to experience when I visit again. In an upcoming blog entry I look forward to cooking something from Washington DC Chef’s Table: Extraordinary Ordinary Recipe’s from the Nations Capital
We decided to see the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at about 2:00 AM on the way to the drug store… allergic reaction (my sister), don’t ask, long story.
