It is a bit of a tradition to celebrate the new year in Chicago with my sister AskDrRenee, so this year was no different. As part of my trip to Chicago, I like to try out restaurant’s that I have never been to as well as revisit my favorites (Table Fifty-Two). This year the new restaurant was Longman & Eagle. From the outside it looked like it was going to be a quiet weekday lunch. When we walked in, the place was packed and the bar was loaded, you could tell their bar didn’t mess around. After reviewing the menu, it was obvious that the chef, Jared Wentworth, isn’t messing around either. What I ordered: Wild Boar Sloppy Joe Crispy Sage and onion, pickled jalepeno with beef fat fried fries…What? I know thats what I said. I decided to try a Tom Collins from the bar, I hadn’t had one since I was legal to drink, but this was brighter and more flavorful than I can remember, fresh everything, no mixes at this bar.
Although this little gem isn’t on the Magnificent Mile or State Street, or any of the most famous spots that tourist tend to stroll near, a trip to Longman & Eagle is totally worth it.
